RUNNING FOR BEGINNERS
We step out of our luxurious cars
and run to the trees,
strengthening our leg muscles,
thanks to which—and we don’t know why
our legs aren’t more grounded.
Our thighs, thicker than tree trunks,
the wind ruffling our hair—but
the birds don’t reside there.
They also escape from cages
and find recluse in the trees.
Three times a week, for half an hour—
the birds more often than us—
without looking back, we
plan our escape:
one must stand strong,
one must stay grounded.
